Minnesota headed for another early vacation

Minnesota, which made it to the Western Conference finals in the 2003-04 campaign, has 12 games remaining on its schedule and is headed towards missing the playoffs for a second straight season. The Timberwolves will split their final 12 games of the campaign evenly between home and the road.

On Wednesday, the Timberwolves close out a brief two-game homestand, as they host the streaking Orlando Magic at the Target Center. It is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 30th, Jameer Nelson scored 25 points to lead the Magic past the Timberwolves, 107-87, at TD Waterhouse Centre.

Orlando has lost five of eight and seven of its last 11 at Minnesota.

All-Star Kevin Garnett finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds as the Timberwolves held off the New York Knicks, 98-94, on Sunday at the Target Center.

Ricky Davis poured in 21 points and grabbed eight boards and rookie Rashad McCants netted 17 in the win over New York for the Timberwolves, who snapped a two-game losing streak and have won three of their last five games overall.

Minnesota is 21-14 at home this season. It has won three straight and six of its last seven at the Target Center.

Besides Orlando, the Timberwolves will host Golden State, Utah, Atlanta, San Antonio and Memphis in their final games of the season at the Target Center.

The Timberwolves last six road contests are against Denver, Charlotte, Atlanta, Memphis, Houston and Indiana.
