(Basketball News) - The surprising Seattle SuperSonics visit the red-hot Houston Rockets on Tuesday at the Toyota Center.
It will be the first meeting of the season between the clubs. The teams will meet three more times as Seattle will host the Rockets on March 8th and April 11th, while Houston will host the Sonics on April 20th.
The road team has won three straight meetings in this series, while the home team has won nine of the last 14 contests. Seattle has won two straight and three of its last four at Houston.
The surprising Sonics try to get back on the winning track tonight, as they come into the contest having lost two in a row. Last Wednesday, Jason Richardson poured in a game-high 30 points, while Derek Fisher netted 21 and dished out seven assists as the Golden State Warriors defeated Seattle, 117-110, at KeyArena.
Ray Allen paced Seattle with 26 points and Antonio Daniels dropped in 19 off the bench in the loss to Golden State for the Sonics. Rashard Lewis added 17 points in the losing effort, while Nick Collison had career-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Sonics have a commanding 10-game lead over the second-place Minnesota Timberwolves in the Northwest Division.
Seattle is 16-7 on the road this season.
Allen is Seattle’s leading scorer at 23.9 points per game, while Reggie Evans leads the team in rebounding (9.2 rpg) and Luke Ridnour is the teams in assists at 6.0 per contests.
The Sonics will visit the New Orleans Hornets on February 23rd before returning home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. Seattle will then embark on a three-game road trip, as it will visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday at the Bradley Center for the first game of the swing.
