Telfair released from hospital

Telfair exited the contest in the first quarter due to shortness of breath and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He walked off the court with a trainer before exiting TD Banknorth Garden.

Telfair was diagnosed with bronchospasm, which is a difficulty in breathing caused by a sudden constriction of the muscles in the walls of the bronchioles. Telfair was released from the hospital and is expected to make the trip to Cleveland with the team, but it will be up to the Celtics team doctors to clear him to play Saturday night.

Telfair was originally taken by Portland with the 13th overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.6 assists and one steal in 68 games, 30 starts, for the Trail Blazers in his second NBA season last year.

The Celtics lost Friday night, 107-100. Rajon Rondo replaced Telfair in the lineup.
