Sacramento Kings Team Report - March 11 03.11.2005
|
(Basketball News) - The Sacramento Kings play the third of a five-game homestand, as they welcome the Los Angeles Clippers Friday to ARCO Arena. This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous contests, Sacramento picked up a win at home and on the road. The teams will meet for the fourth and final time in the 2004-05 campaign on March 19th at the Staples Center.
The home team has won 12 of the last 17 meetings, while the Kings have won seven straight and 12 of the last 13 contests in this series. The Clippers have lost 13 straight and 17 of their last 18 at Sacramento.
The last time the Clippers won as the visitor against the Kings was on November 7, 1997.
The Kings come into tonight’s contest on a two-game winning streak. On Tuesday, Mike Bibby nailed a game-winning three- pointer as time expired to lift the Kings to a thrilling but controversial 85-82 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at ARCO Arena. Bibby finished with 26 points for the Kings, while Peja Stojakovic netted 19 in the victory.
Sacramento, which shot just 36 percent from the floor in the win over the Grizzlies, is 24-5 when it allows under 100 points this season.
On the injury front, center Brad Miller (calf), guard Cuttino Mobley (back) and forward Kenny Thomas (personal) are all questionable for Sacramento for Friday’s game. Miller has missed five straight games, while Mobley has been on the sidelines for the Kings’ last two contests.
The Kings are an impressive 22-8 at home this season. Sacramento, which has won three straight at ARCO Arena, will also host the Houston Rockets and the Orlando Magic on the current stand.
Bibby has scored in double-digits in 27 straight games and in 54 of the 61 games he has played in this season. The Arizona product is averaging 23.8 points and seven rebounds in his last 10 contests. He is the Kings’ top scorer at 19.7 points per game ans also leads the club in assists (6.4 apg).
