(Basketball News) - Michael Finley scored 33 points and Dirk Nowitzki added a season-high 32, as the Dallas Mavericks held off a late rally by the Portland Trail Blazers for a 108-104 victory on Saturday at the Rose Garden.
Antawn Jamison came off the bench to post 16 points for the Mavericks, as Dallas won its fourth straight contest. Antoine Walker and Danny Fortson notched 10 points each.
"The big three are starting to click. I think the two Antawn’s are really starting to understand their roles. Hats off to Walker tonight. He was incredible, making plays and passes," said assistant coach Donnie Nelson, who took over behind the bench when his father Don Nelson was ejected.
Dallas was without starting point guard Steve Nash, who sat out the contest with a sore hip. The Mavs were also without the elder Nelson for most of the game, as the veteran headman was ejected late in the first quarter after picking up two technical fouls for arguing a non-call.
The Mavs improved to 8-2 in Saturday games this season.
Dallas, which won for just the fourth time in its last 10 road games, are off until Tuesday when they host the New Jersey Nets.
