NBA Game Summary - New York at Orlando

03.4.2005

Orlando, FL (Basketball News) - Grant Hill scored 15 of his 29 points in third quarter and the Orlando Magic routed the New York Knicks, 111-89, at TD Waterhouse Centre.

Dwight Howard added 20 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for the Magic, who have won two in a row after dropping three straight. Kelvin Cato tallied 14 points and nine boards for Orlando, which captured its 30th win of the season.

Stephon Marbury had 22 points to lead the Knicks, who had a three-game win streak halted. Malik Rose and Trevor Ariza each had 12 points off the bench, as New York has lost four in a row on the road.

After jumping out to a 38-25 first-quarter lead and carrying a 63-52 cushion into halftime, Orlando put the game away in the third. Back-to-back buckets by Cato to start the second half gave the Magic a 15-point advantage, 67-52.

Steve Francis later gave the club an 18-point cushion with a driving layup 4 1/2 minutes into the stanza.

Later, a 13-4 burst by the Magic turned a 75-59 lead into an 88-63 laugher. Hill scored the final 11 points of the burst, capping it with a three-pointer with 1:44 remaining.

Orlando took an 88-66 lead into the fourth and cruised through the final 12 minutes of action.

Francis ended with 13 points and nine assists for the Magic, who have won two of three this season against New York.

The Knicks shot just 3-of-16 from the field in the third quarter.

Orlando’s Doug Christie did not play because of illness. However, the guard, who missed Thursday’s practice and Friday’s shoot around, has been publicly complaining about playing time.

Rookie starter Jameer Nelson had 11 points for the Magic, who had all five starters score in double-figures in back-to-back games...Hedo Turkoglu rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 off the bench...Tim Thomas, who had 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting in a 117-115 overtime win over the Lakers last time out, was held to five points on 2-of-4 shooting in this contest.
