Lakers getting a total team effort

(Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Lakers (9-4) are in first place in the Pacific Division and own a one-game lead over the second-place Golden State Warriors.

Superstar Kobe Bryant leads the team in scoring (23.8 ppg) and assists (5.3 apg), while forward Lamar Odom has pulled down a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game. Bryant has scored in double-digits in all 11 games he has played in, and has collected two double-doubles.

Odom is having an outstanding season for LA. He is second on the team in scoring with an average of 19.6 points per game. The Rhode Island product has scored 20 or more points in three of the last four contests, and has played over 30 minutes in all 13 games.

Forward Luke Walton is averaging 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists, while guard Smush Parker has netted 9.2 per game. Nineteen-year-old center Andrew Bynum has cooled down, as he has not scored in double-digits in his last three outings and has played just over 16 minutes per contest in that span.

On Tuesday, the struggling Milwaukee Bucks start a four-game road trip when they visit the Lakers at the Staples Center. The Lakers have won 10 in a row over the Bucks. Milwaukee has lost five straight at the Lakers.

The last time the Bucks beat the Lakers was on March 21, 2001 at home.

The Bucks and Lakers will play on March 7, 2007 at the Bradley Center for the second and final time this season.

The Lakers play the middle contest of a three-game homestand against Milwaukee. On Sunday, Odom paced a balanced Lakers attack with 21 points as Los Angeles fought back to defeat the New Jersey Nets, 99-93, at the Staples Center.

Bryant ended with 19 points, six rebounds and 10 assists in the win over New Jersey for the Lakers, who have won five of their last six contests overall. Smush Parker and Kwame Brown both scored 13 points, while rookie Jordan Farmar netted 11 in the victory.

LA is an impressive 8-1 at home this season. The Lakers are scheduled to host Carlos Boozer and the Jazz on Thursday. Utah defeated the Lakers, 114-108, on November 24th at EnergySolutions Arena. The Jazz have lost two of their last three at the Lakers.

The Lakers will act as the visitor on Saturday when they battle the Clippers. The Lakers knocked off the Clippers, 105-101, on November 21st at the Staples Center.
