NBA fines Artest

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Indiana Pacers defensive standout Ron Artest was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for the obscene gesture he made one day earlier in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals versus the Pistons.

Artest made the inappropriate gesture in the final four minutes of a 72-67 Detroit victory.

The series is knotted at 1-1 with Game 3 of the best-of-seven set continuing Wednesday in Auburn Hills.

The St. John’s product averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game during the regular season.
