NCAA Game Summary - Colorado at Kansas

Lawrence, KS (Basketball News) - Wayne Simien scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead 12th-ranked Kansas over Colorado, 78-57, in Big 12 action at Allen Fieldhouse.

Keith Langford and J.R. Giddens each tallied 13 points for the Jayhawks (12-3, 4-0 Big 12), who bounced back from a 69-68 shocking loss to visiting Richmond on Thursday. Kansas extended its win streak in regular-season conference games to eight and also tallied its 21st straight home victory over a Big 12 opponent.

Kansas has now beaten Colorado 21 straight times in Lawrence, with the Buffaloes’ last win on the Jayhawks’ home court coming on February 10, 1983.

Lamar Harris netted a game-high 21 points for the Buffaloes (10-6, 2-3), who dropped their fifth game in seven true road tilts. Overall, Colorado has lost back-to-back games on the heels of a four-game win streak.

Colorado led 10-8 after a Blair Wilson three-pointer about five minutes into the game. But Kansas responded with a 20-4 run and they never looked back. Giddens capped off the burst with a triple that gave the Jayhawks a 28-14 advantage with 7:26 left in the first half.

Kansas increased its lead to 41-21 at the intermission and led by as many as 33 in the second half.

This contest marked the second meeting between the two schools this season, as the Jayhawks took a 77-62 decision in Boulder back on January 5th in the Big-12 opener for each team.

With respect to the all-time series between these two teams, Kansas owns a commanding 107-39 lead...Kansas has reached the 70-point mark in all 12 of its wins this season...The Jayhawks have held 66 straight opponents to under 100 points...Kansas has hit at least one three-pointer in 128 straight games...Simien tied Scot Pollard for seventh place on the all-time Kansas double-double list.
