New York, NY (Basketball News) - Richard Jefferson scored 19 points and Nenad Krstic had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the New Jersey Nets over the New York Knicks, 91-86, at Madison Square Garden in the final preseason game for each club.
Vince Carter added 15 points and Marc Jackson had 14 points for the Nets, who ended the preseason with two straight wins for a 5-3 mark in eight games.
New Jersey played without starting point guard Jason Kidd because of a left quad contusion. The injury is not expected to keep him out of the team’s season opener on Wednesday against Milwaukee.
Nate Robinson had 14 points to lead the Knicks, who went 3-4 in the preseason. Jamal Crawford added 13 points, Eddy Curry had 10 points and five rebounds and Matt Barnes ended with 10 points and six boards for New York, which opens its season on Wednesday at Boston.
