WNBA announces Draft Lottery to be held on December 3 11.6.2003
|
The WNBA lottery will be patterned after the NBA’s current lottery system and will be weighted to favor those teams with weaker records. The lottery will establish the order of selection for the first round of the draft, but the remaining two rounds will be based on teams’ regular-season finishes in 2003.
Six teams missed the 2003 Playoffs and those clubs will all be entered for a chance to get the No. 1 pick. The Phoenix Mercury will have the best chance at the top selection after they ended with a league-worst 8-26 record last season.
The Washington Mystics and the San Antonio Silver Stars will have the second and third best opportunities respectively to earn one of the top three choices.
