Final Score: San Antonio 75, Seattle 65
San Antonio, TX (Basketball News) - La Toya Thomas totaled 16 points and Vickie Johnson and Agnieszka Bibrzycka chipped in 15 points apiece to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to a 75-65 victory over the Seattle Storm at AT&T Center. Sophia Young added 12 points and seven rebounds for San Antonio. Seattle rested star center Lauren Jackson with a playoff spot already locked up, but the Storm will still have to beat Houston in the regular season finale to hold the third seed. A loss will send Seattle to top seed Los Angeles, while a victory means Seattle will square off against Sacramento. Betty Lennox led Seattle with 17 points, but point guard Sue Bird surprisingly finished without an assist.
Final Score: Phoenix 111, Houston 110
Houston, TX (Basketball News) - Diana Taurasi poured in a WNBA-record 47 points as Phoenix held on for a thrilling 111-110 triple-overtime win over Houston at the Toyota Center. Taurasi was 17-of-33 from the floor — with eight three- pointers — and 5-of-7 from the free throw line as the Mercury drew within a half-game of the Comets for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Taurasi surpassed the previous record of 46 points by Katie Smith in a 2001 game against Los Angeles. Penny Taylor added 19 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Mercury while Cappie Pondexter netted 15 points. Tina Thompson came up just short of a triple-double for the Comets with career-highs of 37 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists. Sheryl Swoopes contributed 30 points and eight rebounds for Houston in the highest-scoring game in league history.
Final Score: Sacramento 74, Minnesota 66
Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Yolanda Griffith netted 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead Sacramento past Minnesota, 74-66, at Arco Arena. Kara Lawson added 14 off the bench for the playoff-bound Monarchs while DeMya Walker had 12 points in the win. Seimone Augustus had a game-high 29 points for the Lynx while Nicole Ohlde had 11 points and six rebounds.
