Chick Fight!

The next time you see one of those WNBA commercials that tries to put the league on par with the NBA, don’t laugh as hard as you normally would. For at least one night, the WNBA put a product on the floor that was as compelling and entertaining as their parent league, even if it was in the form of an altercation.




So let’s recap: The WNBA’s newest young star is smack dab in the middle of this. One of their older stars, one who was one of the centerpieces of the league at its inception, gets knocked to the ground by a former Bad Boy bruiser. Four persons were ejected from the game and another had to leave the floor in a wheelchair after trying to be a peacemaker. And it all took place in Detroit, which is where this also happened.

There’s so much that could be said here, and so much that will be said in the coming days. This will certainly be the most attention that the league has received in quite some time— perhaps ever— but it will come with more than its fair share of bad publicity. Those who run the show for the WNBA will not be pleased as they deal with this new attention while keeping their league running and trying to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

on 07.23.2008		 Honestly the keage would get more ratings if this happened more oftern, a good 4 fights a season would keep people watching just in case i betcha keezy bad .

on 07.22.2008		 they should do this more often jus fake it like WWE people will probably watch the games they just let parker steal the ball and dunk on purpose juss to hype the WNBa thas the only way they wil get better ratings and viewers they need hire some tim donoughys .
