Smith and Shock down Comets

Houston, TX (Basketball News) - Katie Smith had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Detroit Shock downed the Houston Comets, 77-71, at Toyota Center.

Cheryl Ford had 15 points and 14 rebounds while Swin Cash added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Shock, who won their fourth straight game to remain undefeated on the season.

It is the second 4-0 start for Detroit in franchise history.

Tina Thompson and Michelle Snow each had 20 points for the Comets, who have dropped all four of their games this season and are still looking for their first win under first-year coach Karleen Thompson.

Detroit was trailing, 58-53, heading into the final 12 minutes, but outscored Houston, 24-13, in the final quarter to grab the win.
