01.27.2007

Detroit, MI (Basketball News) - A.J. Graves scored 15 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists to lead 14th-ranked Butler over Detroit, 68-58.

Butler finished 47 percent shooting in the contest.

Brandon Cotton poured in 28 points on 11-of-22 from the floor while Ryvon Covile added 12 for the Titans (7-13, 4-5), who have dropped three of five.

Butler took control from the start by scoring 11 of the first 14 points in the game, and with 6 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half, Campbell’s three- pointer put Butler on top, 25-15.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 16 in the frame and ended with a 38-24 halftime advantage.

In the second half, Detroit came back and cut its deficit to two at 49-47 on Jon Goode’s free throw, but that’s as close as it would get. Green responded with a pair of hits from the charity stripe and Drew Streicher drilled a trey with 5 1/2 minutes to play as Butler cruised to victory.

The Titans shot 45 percent from the floor.
