NBA Game Summary - Utah at Memphis

Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - Chucky Atkins netted 20 points and was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Utah Jazz, 90-84, at the FedExForum.

Pau Gasol added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have won three straight. Shane Battier donated 14 points and seven rebounds while Eddie Jones had 13 points and dished out five assists.

Carlos Boozer paced Utah with 19 points and nine boards as the Jazz lost for the fourth time in their last five games overall. Mehmet Okur posted a double- double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Holding a two-point advantage late in the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies ripped off six straight points to take a 83-76 lead with 2:01 remaining.

Boozer then hit a turnaround jumper in the paint for Utah, but Eddie Jones hit three consecutive shots from the line for Memphis to make it 86-78 with 43.7 ticks on the clock. Gasol then fouled Okur on a three-point attempt from the top of the key and he sunk all three free throws to make it a five-point contest at 86-81 with 35.4 seconds to go.

The Jazz then put the Grizzlies on the line and Gasol went 1-for-2 with 20 seconds remaining. Andrei Kirilenko was able to hit a trey from the left corner to make it a 87-84 game.

Kirilenko then fouled Jones, and he hit both of his free throws to make the score 89-84. At the other end, Deron Williams threw up a three-point attempt from the right corner that came up short with less than 10 seconds to go.

Gasol closed out the scoring by hitting 1-of-2 from the line.

Utah ended the opening quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 25-16 advantage into the second stanza. Kirilenko netted six straight points during the stretch.

The Jazz took a 45-34 lead into the break as the Jazz had a balanced first half scoring attack. Okur paced Utah with 10 points while Kirilenko and Boozer each had nine.

Memphis outscored the Jazz 33-17 in the third period to take a 67-62 lead into the final frame. Atkins dropped in eight points while Battier had seven points in the quarter.

Memphis is 5-1 in its last six home games and 22-10 at home on the season...The Grizzlies have won six of the last seven meetings with the Jazz on the campaign...Memphis shot 25-of-36 from the charity stripe...Kirilenko finished with 16 points and six rebounds.
