Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics announced Friday that the team has re-signed guard Mateen Cleaves. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
"Mateen is a quality individual and a great teammate," said Sonics general manager Rick Sund. "He had an excellent summer for us in Utah and last season was a pleasant surprise."
The Michigan State product has averaged 3.8 points and 1.9 assists in 140 career NBA games. He left the Spartans as the Big Ten’s all-time assists leader and was named the most outstanding player of the 2000 NCAA Tournament, as Michigan State won the national championship that season.
Cleaves played in just 14 games with the Sonics in 2004-05
In his five-year career, Cleaves spent time with Detroit, Sacramento, and Cleveland before joining the Sonics last season.
