Clippers, Kings meet at ARCO Arena

(Basketball News) - Pacific Division rivals square off tonight, as the Sacramento Kings host the struggling Los Angeles Clippers at ARCO Arena.

Sacramento has won 13 straight and 18 of the last 19 meetings in this series. The last time the Clippers defeated the Kings was on January 18, 2003 at home.

The Clippers have lost 16 straight at Sacramento. The Clippers last win over the Kings on the road was on November 7, 1997.

The Kings enter tonight’s contest on a two-game winning streak. On Saturday, Kevin Martin poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Sacramento over the Portland Trail Blazers, 105-85, at ARCO Arena.

Mike Bibby scored 20 points in the win over Portland for the Kings, while Shareef Abdur-Rahim finished with 13 points for Sacramento, which has captured six of its last nine outings.

Sacramento is 5-2 at home this season. After tonight’s contest. the Kings hit the road for a pair of contests against Dallas and San Antonio. They will visit the Mavericks on Friday and the Spurs on Saturday.

Los Angeles has dropped four straight games and plays the finale of a three- game road trip. On Sunday, Carmelo Anthony poured in 33 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out six assists as the Denver Nuggets knocked off the Clippers, 103-88, at the Pepsi Center.

Corey Maggette paced for the slumping Clippers, who have yet to win on the road this season, with 22 points and 12 rebounds. All-Star Elton Brand tallied 16 points and nine rebounds, while Cuttino Mobley netted 13 in the loss to the Nuggets.

The Clippers are 0-5 on the road this season. They return home to host Memphis on Wednesday, the Lakers on Saturday, Orlando on Sunday and Miami on December 5th.
