Heat conclude road trip at Denver

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat wrap up a four-game road trip when they visit the Denver Nuggets tonight at the Pepsi Center.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 14th, Carmelo Anthony scored 33 points and had six rebounds as theNuggets beat Miami, 112-105, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Miami has lost four straight after winning its last six at Denver. The Nuggets have won three straight and four of the last five meetings in this series.

The Heat are 2-1 on the current trip. On Thursday, All-Star Dwyane Wade just missed a triple-double with 32 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, as Miami blew a big fourth-quarter lead before beating the Sacramento Kings in overtime, 93-91, at ARCO Arena.

Udonis Haslem had 14 rebounds, including one in the final second of overtime on a missed shot by Mike Bibby, as the Heat beat the Kings for a sixth straight time. Gary Payton and Jason Williams both tallied 11 points for Miami, which has won four of its last six overall.

Miami is 5-4 on the road this season. After tonight’s contest, the Heat return home to host the Toronto Raptors on Monday and the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Denver attempts to get back on the winning track this evening, as it plays the finale of a three-game homestand. On Wednesday, rookie Shelden Williams hit the winning two free throws with 5.4 seconds left as the Atlanta Hawks edged the Nuggets, 98-96, at the Pepsi Center.

Anthony posted 24 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Atlanta for the Nuggets, who have split their last four games overall. J.R. Smith scored 12 points, while Marcus Camby and Yakhouba Diawara both netted 11 and point guard Andre Miller contributed 10 points and nine assists.

The Nuggets are 5-4 at home this season. After tonight’s game they will embark on a five-game road trip. Denver will visit Dallas, Atlanta, Washington, Boston and New York on the upcoming swing.
