Kevin Martin is shining for Kings

11.15.2006

(Basketball News) - Sacramento’s Kevin Martin is off to a surprising start for the Kings, who have won four of their first six games in the new season.

The 23-year-old Martin leads the Kings in scoring (23.8 ppg). He has also grabbed 4.8 rebounds and dished out 2.0 assists per game. The 6-7 Martin is shooting and impressive 54.7 percent from the field. Last season, the Grizzlies and Kings split four contests.

On Wednesday, the struggling Memphis Grizzlies wrap up a three-game road trip when they visit the streaking Kings at ARCO Arena. Last season, the Grizzlies and Kings split four contests. The Grizzlies have lost 16 in a row at Sacramento and are 1-21 at the Kings all-time.

Sacramento will try and win its fourth straight game as it finishes a four- game homestand against the Grizzlies. Martin scored 26 points to lead the Kings over the Toronto Raptors, 107-92, on Sunday at ARCO Arena.

Ron Artest posted 23 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Kings, while Mike Bibby netted 21 and Shareef Abdur-Rahim finished with 18 points and seven boards.

The Kings are 3-0 at home this season. They are scheduled to visit Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors on Thursday at ORACLE Arena.
