Knicks back to their old ways

03.25.2006

(Basketball News) - The New York Knicks are probably happy the Memphis Grizzlies have left town.

On Friday night at Madison Square Garden, the Grizzlies handed New York its fourth straight loss and sixth in eight tries.

Memphis rocked the Knickerbockers by a 91-75 score and sent NY 30 games below the .500 mark this season at 19-49. Larry Brown may have to find an excuse soon to abandon another team.

The Knicks, in front of a paltry home crowd, posted a season-low 31 points in the first half and committed 13 turnovers after 24 minutes.

Friday’s game can wrap up New York’s season in a nut shell.

Lack of focus, effort and determination sent this squad into a black hole. The confrontations between Brown and Stephon Marbury are beginning to take their toll, as well as having disgruntled guards Jalen Rose and Steve Francis on the same team.

The identity is gone for the Knicks. Patrick Ewing, John Starks or Bernard King are not walking through the MSG doors to suit up the sneaks.

Brown must devise a consistent game plan which can help this organization rise from the ashes he caused by throwing a myriad of lineups into the fire.

The Knicks will try to halt their four-game losing streak Sunday afternoon when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

New York is just 2-14 in its last 16 road games and an abysmal 6-27 away from Madison Square Garden this season.
