Rose was traded to the Knicks last season from Toronto and appeared in 26 games with New York, averaging 12.7 points per game. In 72 games with the Raptors and Knicks combined last year, Rose netted 12.3 points per contest.
Rose, a 12-year veteran, has played in 894 career games with New York, Toronto, Chicago, Indiana and Denver. Over that span, the former Michigan product has career averages of 14.7 points and 3.9 assists per game.
The Denver Nuggets originally drafted Rose with the 13th overall pick in the 1994 draft.
The Knicks roster now stands at 14 players after waiving Rose. New York opens the season on the road against Memphis on Wednesday.
