(Basketball News) - Elton Brand had 31 points and 10 rebounds and Corey Maggette scored 19 points as the Los Angeles Clippers rallied late to post a 105-103 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday at the Bradley Center.
Quentin Richardson added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who have won two in a row after a five-game losing streak. Los Angeles also snapped a five-game road losing streak.
Los Angeles led 47-43 at the half and took a 77-76 lead into the fourth quarter, but a free throw by Toni Kukoc, a layup by Desmond Mason and three- pointer from the left corner by Keith Van Horn put Milwaukee up 82-77 with 10:35 to play.
The Clippers made it a two-point game twice over the next couple of minutes. However, a three-point play by Kukoc and jumper by Van Horn put the Bucks up 89-82 with 7:13 remaining.
A pair of free throws by Mason with 6:18 to play put Milwaukee up eight at 91-83, but Los Angeles answered with a 22-12 run to close out the game for the victory.
A three-pointer by Maggette cut the Clippers’ deficit to one with 1:27 left and a baseline jumper by Bobby Simmons put Los Angeles up 100-99 with 54.7 seconds to play. After a shot by Kukoc was blocked by Brand at the other end, Maggette used a driving layup to put the Clippers up 102-99 with 26 seconds remaining.
A free throw by Simmons with 8.7 seconds seemed to seal the victory by putting Los Angeles up 103-99, but Michael Redd — after a time-out — nailed a straight-on three-pointer to pull the Bucks to within a point with five seconds to play.
Maggette was fouled with 4.4 seconds remaining and made a pair of free throws to put the Clippers up three, but Redd was fouled by Maggette on a three-point attempt with one-tenth of a second left to give the Bucks life.
However, Redd missed the first free throw before making the second. He intentionally missed the third attempt, hoping for a tip-in off the rebound. But a lane violation was called on Milwaukee and the Clippers walked away with the victory.
LA improved to 8-19 away from home this season.
The Clippers are off until Tuesday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks.
