Carter was injured when he lost his balance during a dunk attempt in the first quarter of last Thursday night’s overtime win against the New Orleans Hornets.
He limped to the locker room before the start of the second quarter and did not return. It appeared Carter strained his right quadriceps and is listed as day to day.
In 36 games prior to Thursday, Carter was averaging 21.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. The former Tar Heel also has received the most All-Star votes in the Eastern Conference.
Toronto is currently fifth in the Central Division standings posting a 20-18 record.
