(Basketball News) - Byron Scott’s return to New Jersey resulted in a loss, as the New Orleans Hornets dropped a 94-91 overtime decision to the Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.
Dan Dickau scored a season-high 18 points for the Hornets, who dropped their ninth straight game and fell to an NBA-worst 1-17 this season. George Lynch and P.J. Brown each set a season high with 14 points.
The Nets scored six straight points in overtime to overcome an 88-86 deficit. A layup in the lane by Eric Williams, with 1:31 to go, put them ahead 92-88
Lynch then hit a three-pointer to pull the Hornets within 92-91.
However, Travis Best hit two foul shots with 49 seconds left to cap the scoring for New Jersey.
Scott returned to New Jersey for first time since being fired. Scott led the Nets to two consecutive NBA Finals appearances.
New Orleans returns to the court on Sunday against the Washington Wizards.
