Peterson to remain with Raptors

07.30.2004

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Forward Morris Peterson will remain with Toronto after the Raptors matched the reported three-year, $15 million offer sheet tendered by the New Orleans Hornets.

Peterson has spent the first four years of his NBA career with the Raptors, who selected the Michigan State product with the 21st overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft.

"We are excited to have Morris back with our team," said Raptors general manager Rob Babcock. "He has been a key contributor to the Raptors both on the court and in the community."

The 6-7 forward played in all 82 games for Toronto last season, including 29 starts, and averaged 8.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.

The 26-year old Peterson compiled career-high averages of 14.1 points and 4.4 boards while starting 80 games for the Raptors in 2002-03. In 307 career contests, he has posted averages of 11.3 points and 3.6 rebounds.
