11/13/08 WHHW NBA Recap with Video Highlights

  By Christopher Sells
11.14.2008 - Updated on 11.14.2008

Nuggets 99, Cavaliers 110

The Cavs scored 58 first half points. That would have been great if they hadn’t allowed the Nuggets to score 61 in that same amount of time. They managed to play some defense in the second half and came away with the W. LeBron James had 22 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists and Mo Williams led the Cavs with 24 points and six assists. Chauncey Billups had 26 and 6 for the Nuggets and Carmelo Anthony had 18 points and eight rebounds. Of special note in this game were Kenyon Martin’s ejection in the final minute for getting rough with an Anderson Varejao pick and the Nuggets (of whom George Karl said "We’ve transformed from an offensive team to a defensive team.") allowing the Cavs to shoot 57% from the field.

Mavericks 91, Bulls 98

It looked bleak for the Mavericks at the start after they shot out to a 24-5 lead, but thanks in part to another subpar effort by Dirk Nowitzki (12 points on 5-17 shooting), Dallas was able to pull off the come from ahead loss to the Bulls. It didn’t take long for the Bulls to turn things around; they went into halftime with the 19-point deficit completely erased and a one-point lead. Ben Gordon scored 35 points for Chicago and Luol Deng added 20 along with nine rebounds. Josh Howard returned from injury to log 21 points and 11 rebounds and Erick Dampier had 16 and 18. After the game ended, Jason Kidd gave the perfect analysis of Dallas’ problems: "We don’t play defense." Yes, he really said that.

Pistons 107, Warriors 102

Though it looked as though they might give away the lead they played so well to build, the Pistons held off the Warriors to win their fourth road game in five tries. Rip Hamilton had 24 points and seven assists, while Allen Iverson had 23 and 9. Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 16 boards. The Warriors got a solid team effort with all of their starting lineup scoring in double figures, but they were unable to get stops down the stretch when they needed them. A 1-9 performance from behind the three-point line continued the Warriors transformation from one of the best shooting teams last season to one of the worst this season.
