San Antonio Spurs Team Report - February 16

(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs try to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, as they visit the New Orleans Hornets in the final game before the All-Star break for both teams.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous contests, the Spurs beat the Hornets once at the SBC Center and once at New Orleans Arena. The teams will play once more this season, as the Hornets are scheduled to host San Antonio on March 14th.

San Antonio has won two straight and four of the last five meetings in this series. The Spurs have won four straight and six of their last seven at the Hornets.

On Sunday, Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 28 points and Shaquille O’Neal added 27, as the Miami Heat held off San Antonio, 96-92, at AmericanAirlines Arena. Miami shot a scorching 52 percent from the floor in the win, while also winning the battle of the glass, 41-38. All-Star Manu Ginobili paced the Spurs with 24 points.

Tony Parker netted 22 and Tim Duncan finished with 20 points and nine rebounds for San Antonio, which has dropped two of its last three contests overall.

The Spurs, who are 30-1 in games decided by 10 points or more this season, are a solid 17-11 on the road. San Antonio is 4-3 in its last seven games as the visitor.

The Spurs will resume their season after the All-Star break on Wednesday, February 23rd at home against the Houston Rockets. It will be the third meeting of the 2004-05 campaign between the clubs. In the two previous contests, the Rockets defeated San Antonio twice at the Toyota Center. The Spurs will also host Houston on March 27th at the SBC Center in the final meeting of the season between the clubs.

Duncan has scored in double-digits in all 50 games that he has played in this season. The Wake Forest product has registered 37 double-doubles and has netted 20 or more points in 29 contests.

Parker has scored 20 or more points in five straight games and is averaging 22.6 points and 6.8 assists in that span. He has played more than 30 minutes in 10 straight contests.
