(Basketball News) - The Washington Wizards try to stay on the winning track this evening when they continue their five-game road trip in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors at the Arena.
Washington put an end to a two-game skid and won for just the third time in 12 contests Thursday night with a 103-94 win over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.
Larry Hughes poured in a game-high 30 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the winning effort. Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench to net 20 points and grab six boards, as the Wizards won on the road for just the second time in their last 10 tries.
Steve Blake and Gilbert Arenas scored 17 and 11 points, respectively, in the win. Arenas sat out Tuesday’s loss at Utah because of a sprained ankle.
The Wizards shot 42 percent from the field, including 11-of-26 from three- point range (.423). Washington drilled 73 percent (22-of-30) from the charity stripe in the contest.
Washington is just 7-27 on the road this season. The Wizards are also just 5-13 on Fridays.
Washington won the first meeting between these teams this season, 97-79, at the MCI Center. The Warriors have won three of their last five meetings in this series.
