Nets exercise Frank’s option

06.6.2006

East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - The New Jersey Nets exercised the option on the contract of head coach Lawrence Frank for the 2007-08 season on Tuesday.

Frank guided the Nets to a 49-33 record this past season, which included an Atlantic Division title and a first-round playoff win over Indiana. New Jersey also enjoyed an NBA season-high 14-game win streak from March 12-April 6. Frank was named NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for the month of March after posting a 12-3 record, and guided his squad to an all-time franchise-mark for road wins in a season with 20.

"Lawrence has done an excellent job for the Nets since he was named head coach two and a half years ago," said team president Rod Thorn. "He has led his team to two Atlantic Division titles, and has made the playoffs every season. We look forward to continued success."

Since being installed as head coach on January 26, 2004, Frank has piloted New Jersey to a 116-88 mark in 204 career games. The Nets have reached the playoffs in all three of his campaigns at the helm, and have captured two division titles.

"I would like to thank the Nets ownership, management, staff and players," said Frank. "The extension is a reflection of the hard work put in by our players, as well as our staff, and their commitment to winning. All of us look forward to continuing to work towards our goal of winning a championship."
