Mercer underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in mid- November. After signing with the Nets as a free agent this summer, Mercer played in the first three regular-season games before suffering swelling in the knee. He is averaging 9.3 points per contest.
The 6-foot-7 Mercer spent the 2003-04 campaign, his seventh in the NBA, with the San Antonio Spurs. He played just 39 games due to various injuries and suffered his least-productive scoring season with just 5.0 points per outing.
The University of Kentucky product has also spent time with the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers. He holds career averages of 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 417 games.
Meanwhile, the club signed forward Jerome Moiso, who was waived by Toronto on December 17. In eight games for the Raptors this season, he averaged 1.8 points and 2.9 boards per contest.
