Riverside, CA (Basketball News) - Vili Morton tallied game-highs with 29 points and 13 rebounds in leading the UC-Riverside Highlanders to an 82-74 victory over the Sacramento State Hornets in a non-conference matchup from the Student Rec. Center.
David Cobe registered 15 points in a reserve role, converting 9-of-10 free throw attempts for the Highlanders. Rickey Porter chipped in with 13 points for UC-Riverside (4-3), while Steve Williams posted a double-double performance with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Jason Harris finished with 23 points for the Hornets (1-8), who have now lost their last seven games. Schuyler McKay contributed with 11 points, while DaShawn Freeman had 10 points and three steals in the losing effort.
The Highlanders closed the first half on an 8-3 run, which left them tied with the Hornets at 34-34 going into the locker rooms.
UC-Riverside made 17-of-24 free throw attempts in the second stanza, helping it come away with the eight-point win.
