NBA Game Summary - Golden State at LA Clippers

11.28.2004

Los Angeles, CA (Basketball News) - Elton Brand scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Clippers over the Golden State Warriors, 103-91, in the back end of a home-and-home series at the Staples Center.

Bobby Simmons added 22 points, 10 boards and five assists for the Clippers, who have won a season-high three straight games.

"It was important for us to get off on the right track," Brand said. "We lost two overtime games, too, so the record could have even been better than what it is. We’re taking good shots, we’re sharing the ball and playing the right way most of the time. We just have to keep improving."

Mike Dunleavy netted 20 points for the Warriors, who have lost three of four. Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy added 17 points apiece in a losing cause.

Golden State was up 23-15 midway through the first quarter, but the Clippers responded with a 16-6 sprint to end the frame and led the rest of the way. Quinton Ross capped off the burst on a bucket with 35 seconds left and the Clippers led 31-29 heading into the second.

LA got off to a quick start in the second to push its edge to 48-35 courtesy of 17-6 run to begin the quarter. Ross also completed this surge on a pair of free throws with 5:05 left in the first half.

The Warriors stopped the bleeding, but still trailed 54-48 at the intermission.

In the second half, the Warriors cut the deficit to 54-51 via a three-pointer by Clifford Robinson less than a minute in. However, that was the closest the Warriors would get as they were outscored 29-15 in the frame.

The Warriors could never cut the deficit to less than 10 in the fourth.

The Clippers shot 53 percent from the floor and won the battle on the glass, 48-37. LA also posted 29 assists in the victory.

The Warriors fell to 2-6 at home this season...The Clippers improved to 3-0 against the Warriors this year and already clinched the season series. The teams have just one more meeting this year. The final contest will also be in Los Angeles on January 29.
