The Nets shot 24% from the field in the second half and managed to score only 29 points after the intermission. Not surprisingly, they did not win. Vince Carter had 11 of that 29, on his way to 31 for the night. Danny Granger (get familiar if you aren’t already) led the Pacers with 23, TJ Ford missed a triple double by an assist and a rebound, and the Pacers outrebounded the Nets by 14.
Wizards 81, Magic 106
Dwight Howard is really good. And so far, the Wizards are really bad. Howard’s 31 points, 16 boards and three blocks helped give the Magic their fourth straight win and kept the Wizards winless. As always, the team that shot less than 40% from the field took an L. Heat 89, Hornets 100
With a 21 point, 13 assist game, Chris Paul became the only player in history to start the season with six straight 20-point, ten-assist games. He threw in four steals and seven rebounds for good measure. Dwyane Wade had 30, six and ten but the team didn’t offer much help in this one.
Cavaliers 106, Bulls 97
LeBron James hung 41 on the Bulls for the second time this week. Fantasy players will be sad to know that Cleveland doesn’t play Chicago again until January. Ben Gordon started for Kirk Hinrich, who’ll be sidelined for a few months with torn thimb ligaments, and scored 29. Derrick Rose, future rookie of the year, had 17 and 9. Suns 104, Bucks 96
Shaq took last night off and came back tonight to post 29 and 11. Good thing, since the rest of the team shot 33% on the night. Ramon Sessions led the Bucks with 23 off the bench. They played without Michael Redd, who is out with an ankle sprain. The Suns attempted 54 free throws and hit 44. The Bucks only shot 22. I’m sure Scott Skiles will have something to say about that.
Wolves 93, Blazers 97
LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy each had 24 points as the Blazers remained undefeated at home. Alrdrige had 13 rebounds and Roy nine assists to lead the team. Al Jefferson led the Wolves with 27 points and also posted team-highs in assists, steals and blocks. Kevin Love had seven rebounds in his first start, the most on the team. This is good, since he didn’t manage to hit a field goal.
