December 7 Recap and Highlights

  By Christopher Sells
12.8.2008 - Updated on 12.8.2008

Pistons 92, Knicks 104
Another Sunday means another loss for Detroit. The team dropped its fifth Sunday game of the year against no wins. They also fell to 7-8 since Allen Iverson joined the team. These are problems for a team that was expected to contend for the Eastern Conference title but now finds itself looking quite ordinary. Chris Duhon had 25 points and nine assists for the Knicks and Quentin Richardson scored 23. Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 23 points and ten rebounds. The Knicks outrebounded the Pistons by 15, thanks to David Lee’s 19 boards.

Blazers 98, Raptors 97
Down two on the road in the closing seconds of a game, the Blazers turn to... Steve Blake? Blake hit what turned out to be the game-winning three pointer and Portland won for the seventh time in eight games. Blake would finish with 19 points and seven rebounds and LaMarcus Aldridge would have 20 and eight. Jermaine O’Neal scored 24, grabbed eight rebounds and swatted six shots for Toronto. Chris Bosh added 19 points and Jose Calderon put in 15 points and 13 assists. This was Toronto’s fourth straight loss.

Celtics 122, Pacers 117
Indiana beat the Celtics early in the season, one of only two losses for the defending NBA Champs. Boston needed overtime to make sure that it didn’t happen again. Ray Allen led Boston with 35 points (7-12 from deep) and Kevin Garnett had 17 points and 20 rebounds. Marquis Daniels scored 26 for the Pacers, Danny Granger scored 20 in the loss. The Pacers have now lost three straight since beating the Lakers last week.

Bucks 92, Lakers 105

Speaking of the Lakers, they won their third straight game since losing to Indiana last week. They did it against Milwaukee in a game that was never really in question. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 20 points and eight assists, Derek Fisher scored 19 and Andrew Bynum contributed 14 points and 14 boards. Joe Alexander led the Bucks with 15 points off the bench. No Bucks starter managed to make it to double figures in scoring while all of the Lakers’ starters did.
