03.16.2006

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat go for their third straight victory tonight, as they host the Boston Celtics at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Miami plays the finale of a five-game homestand. It is 3-1 on the current stand. On Tuesday, Dwyane Wade scored 25 points, as the Heat crushed the Utah Jazz, 121-83, on their homecourt.

Alonzo Mourning ended with a season-high 19 points and also grabbed seven rebounds in the win over Utah for the Heat, who have won 12 of their last 13 games overall. James Posey scored 16 points, while Shaquille O’Neal netted 13 and pulled down seven boards in the victory.

The Heat are an impressive 25-7 at home this season. They have won 11 of their last 12 games as the host.

Boston plays the second of a four-game road trip. On Tuesday, Jake Tsakalidis paced a balanced Memphis attack with 19 points and a career-high-tying 16 rebounds as the Grizzlies soundly defeated the Celtics, 93-76, at TD Banknorth Garden.

Wally Szczerbiak finished with 18 points in the loss to Memphis for the Celtics, who have lost two of their last three games overall. Paul Pierce was held to a season-low 15 points, while Raef LaFrentz netted 10 in the loss.

The Celtics, who will also visit Orlando and Indiana on the swing, are a dismal 8-23 as the visitor this season. They have lost three of their last five games on the road.

This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous contests, the Heat beat Boston at home and on the road.

The Heat have won six of the last seven contests in this series. Boston has lost four straight after winning its last two at Miami.

Boston is scheduled to host the Heat on April 19th in the final meeting of the campaign between the squads.
