(Basketball News) - The Cleveland Cavaliers take aim at their seventh consecutive win this evening when they head to the Big Apple to face Stephon Marbury and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
On Saturday, LeBron James had 25 points and eight rebounds, while Jeff McInnis netted 24 points as red-hot Cleveland earned a 100-84 victory over Charlotte at Gund Arena.
Drew Gooden and Zydrunas Ilgauskas each posted double-doubles for the Cavaliers, who improved to 6-3 on the young season. Gooden racked up 13 points and 10 boards and Ilgauskas finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cavaliers held a slim 48-47 lead at halftime but outscored the Bobcats 32-15 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
McInnis, a free agent at season’s end, is averaging 18.2 points and shooting 56 percent from the floor during Cleveland’s win streak, while James is averaging 27.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the Cavs’ last six games.
Cleveland, which will host the defending champion Pistons on Wednesday, is 2-2 away from home this season.
Last season the Knicks dropped all four matchups with the Cavs, but could have the advantage tonight, as the home team in this series has won 10 of the last 12 meetings.
Cleveland, though, has won two straight after losing its last five at MSG.
