(Basketball News) - The Pistons’ six-game road trip came to an ugly end on Sunday, as they dropped a 100-85 decision to the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena.
Rasheed Wallace paced the Pistons with 19 points and 10 boards. Richard Hamilton had 14 points and Chauncey Billups added 12 for Detroit, which has dropped three in a row. Detroit finished its road swing with a 3-3 record.
Antonio McDyess and Tayshaun Prince registered 11 points apiece for the Pistons, who shot just 39.1 percent from the field. Prince also chipped in seven boards and six assists
Detroit hit 6-of-16 (.375) from three-point range and only 11-of-24 (.458) from the free throw line. The Pistons committed 15 turnovers which led to 21 points for Sacramento.
Detroit coach Larry Brown saw some familiar faces on the opposite bench, as former players Kenny Thomas, Corliss Williamson and Brian Skinner recently joined the Kings in the Chris Webber trade.
Detroit remains five games ahead of Cleveland for first place in the Central Division, but has slipped 7 1/2 contests behind Miami for the East lead. The Pistons are pretty well locked in the second seed, leading Atlantic Division leader Boston by six games.
The Pistons are second in the league in points allowed (88.8), but rank just 27th in scoring (92.3 ppg). Detroit is 19th in the league in shooting percentage (.441), while sitting fourth in opponents’ shooting percentage (.429).
Detroit has the next two days off before hosting the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. The Pistons will then head to Boston on Friday and return home to take on Utah on Sunday.
