On Friday, the Utah Jazz try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they visit the disappointing Timberwolves at the Target Center. Utah has won two of the three meetings between the squads this season. The Jazz have lost four of six, six of 10 and eight of their last 13 at Minnesota.
The Timberwolves try to halt a two-game losing streak, as they open a brief two-game homestand against Utah. On Wednesday, Josh Childress converted a layup at the buzzer to lift the Atlanta Hawks to a 101-99 victory over the Timberwolves at Philips Arena.
Ricky Davis paced Minnesota in defeat with a game-high 33 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the floor. Kevin Garnett added 27 points and 15 rebounds, as he extended his double-double streak to 32 games. Rookie Rashad McCants netted 14 for the Timberwolves, who dropped their 13th straight game on the road.
Minnesota is a solid 23-14 at home this season. The Timberwolves are scheduled to host the Hawks on Sunday at the Target Center.
The Timberwolves, who made it to the Western Conference finals in the 2003-04 campaign, have seven games remaining on their schedule. Four of their final seven games are at the Target Center.
Besides Utah, Minnesota will host Atlanta, San Antonio and Memphis. The Timberwolves final three road contests are against the Grizzlies, Rockets and the Pacers.
