LeBron vs. Carmelo II

12.2.2003

Denver, CO (Basketball News) - Tonight marks the second meeting of the season between the two most heralded rookies from the draft class of 2003, as LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Denver to meet Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.

In the first meeting, Denver took home a 93-89 win at Gund Arena on November 5. Anthony finished with 14 points, while James, who made his home debut, managed to score just seven.

Cleveland comes into tonight’s contest having lost 31 straight road games, dating back to last season. The Cavs last road win was an 87-79 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics on January 12.

The Cavaliers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, 122-115, in double overtime Saturday in front of their home crowd.

James netted a career-high 33 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and handed out seven assists for the Cavaliers, who dropped their sixth contest in a row.

The Cavs are 0-10 on the road this season.

Denver (10-6) is off to its best start since 1994-95.

Voshon Lenard poured in a season-high 26 points to lead the Nuggets to a 98-86 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday at the Staples Center.

Coming off a 22-point effort during an impressive win over Dallas on Friday, Lenard hit 11-of-17 shots in this contest, as Denver won its third straight and fifth in six tries.

Denver’s Andre Miller chipped in with 19 points and seven assists in the win over the Clippers. Francisco Elson came off the bench for the Nuggets and grabbed a career-high 11 boards, while reserves Earl Boykins and Rodney White each had 10 points for Denver.

Rookie sensation Anthony finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes against the Clippers.

Denver is 7-1 at home.

The Nuggets have won two straight and three of the last four over the Cavs.

Cleveland has lost three in a row at Denver.

The home team has won six of the last seven meetings.
