Recap and Highlights for December 1

  By Christopher Sells
12.2.2008 - Updated on 12.2.2008

Wolves 90, Bobcats 100
What do 40% shooting and 17 turnovers get you in a game on the road? As the T-Wolves found out, a loss. Charlotte played a solid game with assists on all but nine of their field goals and 46% shooting and only nine turnovers. Jason Richardson led the team with 25 points; Emeka Okafor tallied 24 points and 10 rebounds. Raymond Felton added 14 points and 14 assists. Randy Foye had 23 points in a losing effort and Mike Miller had 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Charlotte has now won three of their last five.

Magic 88, Celtics 107
Orlando kept it close for a half. After that, the Celtics looked like a championship team and the Magic looked like a team missing two of its starters. Paul Pierce scored 17 of his 24 points in the third quarter as Boston pulled away for its ninth straight win. Ray Allen scored 21 points and Rajon Rondo recorded 16 points and 12 assists. Orlando’s Rashard Lewis scored 30 points on the night, Hedo Turkoglu 19, and Dwight Howard continued his stellar play with 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. The Magic shot only 19% from three and 42% overall to Boston’s 46% and 54%. Another interesting note: there were eight technical fouls called in this game. Sam Cassell was ejected despite not seeing a second of game action this entire season.

Heat 130, Warriors 129
The Warriors hoped that a return to Oakland would be the necessary medicine to cure their six game winning streak. It was almost true, until the game slipped away in the final seconds of overtime. A Chris Quinn three tied the game at 129, then a Michael Beasley steal, offensive rebound, drawn foul and made free throw gave Miami a hard fought win and extended the Golden State streak to seven. Jamal Crawford, playing in his first home game as a Warrior, scored 40 points and handed out seven assists and had a chance to win the game with a runner in the lane, but it bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded. Corey Maggette scored 29 for the Warriors, Stephen Jackson had 11 assists and Andris Biedrins had 17 points and 15 boards. Dwyane Wade put up 37 points, 13 assists and three blocks in his usual Superman role for the Heat. Shawn Marion and Udonis Haslem scored 21 points apiece and combined for 28 boards. Beasley finished with 19 points off the bench.
