Recap and Highlights for December 8

  By Christopher Sells

Bobcats 96, Heat 100

During a back and forth fourth quarter, Miami used 10 Dwyane Wade points in the final nine minutes to clinch their fourth straight win. Wade finished with 41 points and eight rebounds. This was Wade’s third 40-point performance of the season. He leads the league in scoring with over 29 points per game. The Heat also got 15 points from Mario Chalmers and 13 points from Shawn Marion. Jason Richardson scored 24 in the loss for the Bobcats and Emeka Okafor put in 19 points and twelve rebounds. The Heat shot 15 more free throws than Charlotte in the game.

Rockets 97, Grizzlies 109
Memphis took advantage of the short-handed Rockets early and never looked back, leading by as many as 22 and never trailing on the way to their second straight home win. Rudy Gay scored 20 and O.J. Mayo and Hakim Warrick had 18 each. Luis Scola had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Rockets, who played without starters Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest. Rafer Alston had 16 points and eight assists.

Warriors 112, Thunder 102
Oklahoma City whittled a 21-point fourth quarter deficit to only three with under a minute to go, but the Warriors were able to hang on to make the Thunder the first team this season to lose its 20th game. Kevin Durant scored 19 of his 41 in the final quarter and added 10 rebounds and three blocks. Nick Collison added 15 and 10 off the bench. Andris Biedrins had 17 and 21 for Golden State and Jamal Crawford had 19 points and six assists. The win broke a nine-game losing streak for the Warriors.

Magic 95, Clippers 88
The Magic built a lead, lost it, then got it back again. All in a night’s work for perhaps the biggest surprise of the early season. Orlando owns the fourth best record in the league and one of the best records on the road and they upheld both of those stats with their win over the Clips last night. Dwight Howard’s 23 points, 22 boards and six blocks led the Magic; Rashard Lewis contributed 18 and Jameer Nelson 15. Baron Davis had a game-high 27 points and seven assists for Los Angeles; Zach Randolph had 21 points and 12 rebounds, Marcus Camby had 17 rebounds. This was the Clippers’ fourth loss in five games.
