Recap and Highlights for November 30

  By Christopher Sells
12.1.2008 - Updated on 12.1.2008

Blazers 96, Pistons 85
Portland went on the road and got their fourth straight win thanks to a poor shooting night from the Pistons. Detroit shot only 44% to Portland’s 52% as the Blazers led for most of the game. LaMarcus Alridge’s 27 points led Portland; Brandon Roy added 19. Greg Oden posted 11 points and 13 rebounds. Richard Hamilton was Detroit’s high scorer with 18.

Bulls 103, 76ers 92
The Sixers squandered a 15-point first half lead and Chicago took control and handed Philly its fourth straight loss. Ben Gordon led the Bulls in scoring with 21 points. Drew Gooden added 20 and 12 boards while rookie Derrick Rose had 18 and 10 assists. Rose also broke Andre Miller’s ankles in what will surely be a YouTube hit in the next day or so. To his credit, Miller did finish the game with 15 points and 10 assists. Elton Brand finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Rockets 94, Nuggets 104
A night after beating the now-healthy Spurs soundly, the Rockets laid an egg against a Denver team that played most of the game without Carmelo Anthony. The team shot just 41% from the field. The Nuggets shot 48% and were led by Chauncey Billups’ 28 points and 10 assists. J.R. Smith added 19 off the bench. Billups and Smith hit a combined nine three pointers. With this win, the Nuggets kept pace with the Blazers. Both teams sit atop the Northwest Division.

Nets
117, Suns 109

Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 12 rebounds in this game, but his most significant action in the game was his ejection with about three and a half minutes remaining in the game. After that, New Jersey outscored the Suns 19-9 and Phoenix’s two-point lead turned into an eight-point loss. Devin Harris finished the game with 47 points, seven rebounds and eight assists— all team highs— and Vince Carter added 28 points. The Nets scored 43 points in the final period, 21 of them by Harris. Steve Nash had 26 points and nine assists for the Suns.

Raptors 99, Lakers 112
The Lakers continued to make it look easy as they pushed their winning streak to seven games and dispatched the Raptors. It wasn’t necessary for any Laker to play more than 30 minutes in this one, as the game was over not far in to the fourth quarter. Pau Gasol finished with 24 points and nine rebounds; Kobe Bryant had 23 points and seven assists. The usually amazing Chris Bosh was held to 12 points on 4-13 shooting. Anthony Parker led Toronto with 19 points and Jose Calderon notched 12 points and 12 assists.
