Jamison has played in 386 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NBA. He last sat out a contest on April 19, 2000, when he was a member of the Golden State Warriors.
"I’m encouraged by the news that I received from our doctors," Jamison told WashingtonWizards.com. "It is disappointing that I’ll miss the Knicks game, but I’m confident that my teammates will step up in my absence just like they did the other night in Charlotte. I’m going to use this week to rest and rehabilitate."
The 28-year-old Jamison, a member of the 2005 Eastern Conference All-Star Team, has started 58 games this season and is averaging 20 points and eight rebounds per contest.
