The Nike Air Force (AF1) Mid  | | | | | | | | | | The Nike Air Force One Mid, (as you can notice and I am sure that at least as a real basketball player, you own at least of pair of those); are designed just above the ankle to assure a solid stabilization and no ankle sprain on the playgrounds!
The Nike air force mid, are more a men model than a women model, even though you can sometimes find the Nike air force one mid in women and youth sizes, with the assorted colours (check pictures).
Nowadays, just as if a general fashion in the basketball industry mixed with a trend in the Hip Hop industry, 80’s come back (just take a look at Nelly’s song "in my AF1", and all the Rap video clips, everybody on TV (BET for instance) wear Nike Air Force One! Alternatively, the fact that: Nelly has teamed up with Nike for a limited-edition sneaker called Air Dirty. Just 1,000 pairs are manufactured; they started to sell in June 13 only at New York, Chicago and Los Angeles Nike town stores and at Squad 1 in St. Louis. Proceeds from the sneakers will go to Nelly’s non profit foundation "4Sho4Kids") as brought back the 1983 Vintage Model...
The Nike Air Force One Mid, exist in leather, nubuk and canvas. Nike has released so many models and limited edition in the Nike Air Force Mid, such as the AF1 Mid NYC 20th anniversary, 2003, don’t forget that the Nike Air Force One was first released in 1982-1983.
Why NYC Anniversary and not Chicago or Dallas???
I think that Nike, based in Oregon at that time, was mainly selling and exporting shoes to the basketball and track and field professional industry and players...and mostly stars of the NBA drafted from the University of NYC certainly...
Who else besides the Harlem Globe Trotter at that time in NYC and the most talented players from the University of NY, could represent more the spirit of the Basketball and the Nike shoes ...That is why, I guess Nike released a special NYC Anniversary edition, because they sold most of their Nike Air Force One in New York City first...
Of course as usual, limited edition models and Japanese release only model have been very hunted lately...Just take a look at the Japanese model , limited edition of the Nike Air Force One Low and Mid in Brown Nubuk, very valuable...or the famous Air Force One Mid LE series, European colours ...etc
One of the most exclusive models is still to me the Nike Air Force One CL 1997 Indy race, with a specific retro look, nice colours and a great story behind that pair!Very expensive and rare.
