The Sideboard

 07.29.2005 - Updated on 09.8.2005

You may have seen this trick performed by A.O., and it’s a real beauty if you can get it right. The move is far easier if you have a padded backboard, as many metal boards found on street courts are too thin.

  1. Dribble down the right-hand side of the court, towards the block.

  1. Perform a counter-clockwise spin move so that you end up with your right foot nearly touching the baseline.

  1. Take a hook-shot as if you are aiming to score, but throw the ball off the side of the board so that it returns to your hands. The defender should turn to look for the rebound.

  1. Catch the ball and continue as desired.
