AND 1 MixTape Tour 2004 in SAN ANTONIO

06.28.2004 - Updated on 07.14.2004

San Antonio, TX - Sunday, June 27, 2004

The 2004 AND 1 Mix Tape® Tour players extended a special effort to win in San Antonio in honor of their teammate Antoine "Flash" Howard who passed earlier in the year from cancer. Flash had played ball at University of Texas at San Antonio and his family was in attendance so AND 1 showed the crowd a game full of highlights in the name of their brother. They pulled out a hard fought 94-89 win over the San Antonio team.

No local San Antonio players from Open Run were impressive enough to join the tour, but current players fighting for the AND 1 endorsement contract definitely stepped up. It was the first official game for "Ballahollic" (Cardell Butler, picked up in Salt Lake City) who poured in 12 points, along with other players "757" (Sante Gale, picked up in Oakland) who had 19 points/five boards and "Spyda" (Dennis Chism, picked up in Las Vegas) who had 25 points/five boards. These three will continue on as a part of ESPN2’s reality show "Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape Tour".

After trailing, 52-45, at the half, AND 1 came out strong in the second half with assists from Professor and AO, including several no-look passes, that lead to dunks from Main, Copter and Alimoe. Hot Sauce had a few moves that got the crowd on their feet but also helped bring his squad back finishing out his ankle-breaking with buckets that put his team ahead as the clock wound down. After the win and the extraordinarily long line of fans the players signed autographs for, they packed up to head to Dallas for game 12 on Tuesday.
