Marissa: What do you think of the new player on the ABA Long Beach Jam team, Dennis Rodman?
Spyda: I think it’s really good for the league. There’s nothing like exposure and attention for our league.
Marissa: So you are a Dennis Rodman fan?
Spyda: Yeah, he is one of the best that ever played. Right now he is just getting back into shape. But his career is not done.
Marissa: Who is your role model?
Spyda: Steve Francis, a lot of people said we have the same style of play. He’s quick and he has hops.
Marissa: Have you meet him?
Spyda: I will, at the All-Star weekend. On my birthday, February 12th, I will be playing in the Celebrity basketball game.
Marissa: You are a member of the crazy & funny And1 team. How has that changed your life?
Spyda: All eyes on me.
Marissa: True, between mix tape’s ESPN Streetball and Hot Sauce’s Killer Crossover Tour, it must be hard to be an average Joe?
Spyda: It’s all in the job title, if it has changed me; it has been for the better.
Marissa: Maybe that’s what the ABA Las Vegas Team saw in you. You got invited to play on Master P’s team?
Spyda: Master P saw me play. And then I got a phone call from him, asking me to play. The next thing you know, I’m on the first flight out to Las Vegas.
Marissa: So is Master P, a better ball player or rapper?
Spyda: I see, it is hard to have two careers. He is a good player, he can play.
Marissa: I see, but I think your coach Joe Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s father is a great player and very smart coach.
Spyda: He understands his players, he breaks everything down. Look at the score, it works.
Marissa: Does he ever take you aside to talk or to teach, what so many lack- "Fundamentals "?
Spyda: Everyday, he always has something to teach me.
Marissa: Right now your main focus is getting into the NBA, how will you break into the league?
Spyda: By doing what I do best, showcasing my all around talent.
Marissa: What NBA team, are you a fan of?
Spyda: I’m a Lakers fan. But true fans know why they’re not doing so good. We will be back!
Marissa: Where did the name Spyda come from?
Spyda: My uncle played for the Harlem Globe Trotters? And they called him spider man and then hot sauce and other players shortened it to spider. So then I made a minor change. Spyda
Marissa: How is your web-site coming along? Do you see a lot of traffic?
Spyda: My fan base is blowing up, it was a good move. I e-mail all my fans back.
Marissa: So what is next after this ABA season?
Spyda: The USBL and the AND1 TOUR. It’s all worth it, I get to do what I love.
