Rumor: Kim Kardashian preferred Danilo Gallinari over Kris Humprhies?

Kim was so eager to date a basketball player that E! were calling around teams to matchmake with NBA athletes, RadarOnline.com has learned. Wetpaint claim that E! Television staff contacted the New York Knicks to ask if hunky Italian basketball star Danilo Gallinari (this guy) would be interested in dating Kim.

Link

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Talk about a blow to Kris Humphries' ego.

Humphries was not the first choice of his current wife and reality star Kim Kardahsian, who initially inquired about dating Danilo Gallinari.

The former Knicks' three-man said no to dating, but yes to 'meeting' Kardashian. Hump said yes. And the covers of US Weekly have never been busier.

Sadly, Kim and Kris are reportedly on the rocks. Their two-month whirlwind is over because she has a job and he does not with the NBA lockout.

So perhaps Gallinari still has a chance. Except he's no longer in New York, which may not fit Kim's branding plan for a big city hubby.

Rumor: Kenyon Martin leaving Denver?

And the next Nuggets longtimer who could hit the road? Kenyon Martin, whose excellent Greenwood Village estate is under contract. Check out photos and a video below.

Link

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: It could be a real estate transaction. Or it could be a sign Kenyon Martin is leaving the Denver Nuggets.

Reports indicate Martin has put his palatial Denver estate up for sale, as the power forward and former first overall pick plans to head elsewhere as a free agent when the lockout ends.

Change is surely coming. While a solid performer, Martin struggled with injury and never met the expectations that came with signing a max contract so many years ago.

The Nuggets are also in transition after the Carmelo Anthony blockbuster. Whatever cap space the new system provides will be used to re-sign Nene and, perhaps, negotiate long-term extensions for Wilson Chandler and/or Danilo Gallinari.

If Martin figured into the Nuggets' long-term plans they'd have tendered some type of offer before the lockout began on July 1st.

So Martin’s selling his house. And he’ll be selling his rebounding, defense, and energy when a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is signed.

Chances are, it won’t be in Denver with the Nuggets.

Rumor: Knicks want Anthony to sign Paul in 2012?

The Knicks have improved their offer to Denver for Carmelo Anthony. New York is now putting Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry and a first round pick to Denver for Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and salary cap filler.

Link

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: It seems the Denver Nuggets’ ploy worked.

They made it seem like the New Jersey Nets were on the verge of acquiring Carmelo Anthony, forcing the New York Knicks to raise their lowball offer.

When the Nets were out of the ‘Melo sweepstakes, the Knicks had leverage. They could take their time, wait, and offer less than fair value because Anthony wants to opt-out of his contract at season’s end and sign on to play at Madison Square Garden.

Once the Nets were back in, the Knicks had to move. They recently sweetened the pot and included Danilo Gallineri in their package for Anthony.

Now things will get interesting, as the Nets and Knicks are openly competing for Anthony. Here’s why the Knicks made their Italian shooter available:

It would be bad business having Anthony suit up for the rival Nets. Consider that the Nets will soon leave New Jersey for their new Brooklyn stadium digs. Consider that their billionaire Russian owner will spend a plethora of rubles to battle the Knicks in New York.

The real prize may be New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, though. The tiny table-setter will leave the Hornets and sign with the Knicks, especially if it means playing with his superstar brethren in Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire.

A team with Anthony, Paul, and Stoudemire would be formidable, giving the Knicks their first real shot at an NBA Title in well over a decade.

So the Nuggets forced the Knicks to up their offer for Anthony. However, the real winner could well be the Knicks.

Do you care: Danilo Gallinari dating Michelle Trachtenberg?

GOSSIP GIRL actress MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG has sparked rumors of a new romance with New York Knicks basketball star DANILO GALLINARI.

The 25 year old, who was previously linked to bad boy rocker John Mayer, has been spotted out in the Big Apple with 22-year-old Gallinari in recent weeks, and even cheered on the sportsman at a recent Knicks game.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Call me a skeptic but this sounds familiar.

European basketball star plying his craft in the NBA meets up-and-coming actress. They date. They become an item.

Hopefully, New York Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari and Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg have a better fate than the San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

Hopefully, Gallinari is smart enough to avoid a cell phone text scandal with a teammate’s wife. Time to be honest: I don't really care.

However, if you care about the Gallinari-Trachtenberg pairing then get at us in the comment box below.

Mike D’Antoni on Amar’e Stoudemire: ’I’m hoping he’s the MVP’

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni is touting forward Amar'e Stoudemire as an MVP candidate this season. "I'm hoping he's the MVP this year," D'Antoni said. "That's kind of what he should shoot for and I'm sure what he's trying to be."

Link

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: You’d think the New York Knicks would have learned –hope is not a strategy.

The classic franchise spent three years wooing LeBron James. They cleared cap space. They promised him the world. And they hoped The King would be their saviour.

Well, James took his ‘talents to South Beach’, which left the Knicks giving Amar’e Stoudemire a 5-year, $100 million contract.

Now Coach Mike D’Antoni has to hope Stoudemire can be his saviour.

While Stoudemire has moments of greatness, he’s not an MVP. His offensive game is limited; he treats defense like a contagious disease; and he doesn’t make those around him better.

The Knicks will be better, though. Ray Felton is an upgrade at point guard. Danilo Gallinari should continue developing. And Stoudemire is a legit’ All-Star at the four-spot.

Most importantly, D’Antoni’s crew can finally play to win, not bide their time and hope for the best from The Great Free Agent Chase of 2010.

Playing to win, not hoping, is the only way the Knicks succeed.

Rumor: Knicks to sacrifice Danilo Gallinari for Carmelo Anthony?

For two weeks, the Knicks have been working on a deal that would include Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry and a first-round draft pick acquired from a third team. New York is also now more willing to part with Danilo Gallinari.

Link

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: He could be sacrificed.

The New York Knicks may have to part with Danilo Gallinari to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets.

Sure, the sharpshooter is a talent. His range spreads the floor. His mid-range game is developing. And each year his confidence grows.

This, however, is not enough to pass on a superstar.

Gallinari and Anthony play the same position: the three-spot. The Italian would become redundant on any squad with ‘Melo.

After all, Gallinari can’t switch positions. He’s too slow for off-guard; the Knicks gave Amar’e Stoudemire a cool $100 million to play power forward.

They could go small, though. The Knicks could give Stoudemire time at center, shift Anthony to power forward, and keep Gallinari at quick forward.

Unfortunately, moving Stoudemire to center – a position he never enjoyed while with the Phoenix Suns – would take minutes from promising rookie Timofey Mozgov.

In this situation, the simplest option makes the most sense. And Knick-nation must be willing to sacrifice Gallinari for Anthony.

Danilo Gallinari: I Want LeBron James to Be a Knick

While discussing his reasons for wanting to take a break from basketball this summer, Gallinari said the two words Donnie Walsh will never use until July 1st: LeBron James

Gallinari, in an interview reported by La Stampa, had this to say about his season, the Italian national team, his desire to finish his career in Italy and, of course, LBJ.

"The vote for my season is 8 (out of 10)" said Gallinari. "I have played 81 games and I have again the pleasure to play after a season with big problems at my back and the surgery. We had too many ups and downs and without maintaining continuity is difficult to reach high goals.

"I have talked with Italian Federation President Dino Meneghin but not with the coach Simone Pianigiani. I would like to play but there are some factors to consider: my body and to be ready for the next season with Knicks. I really hope LeBron James (the best player in the League according to Gallinari) will be a Knick. But, however, it is going to be an important season for us" who finished talking about the future of his career. "My project is to finish the career in Italy with Milano".

Danilo Gallinari Takes Blame for Loss

Gallinari is just 21 years old and a virtual rookie. He is not the Knicks’ leading scorer or their franchise player or an established star, although they have hopes for all of those things.

Still, he felt the responsibility was his on this night. He said so in pointed and sometimes profane terms, showing a full grasp of English slang as he cursed his mistakes.

“If I play 42 minutes and I go 1 for 6 from 3, I definitely have to think about this game,” Gallinari said tensely. “I’m on the court and I’m a big part of the offense. So if I shoot the ball bad like that in these type of games – tie games, at the end of the game, you look at the shots – definitely got to blame myself.”

With that, he exhaled and groaned.

“I cannot be like that,” he said.

LeBron Is Keeping an Eye on Danilo Gallinari

Gallinari, who was limited to just 28 games as a rookie due to a back injury that eventually required surgery, has been inconsistent this season. Three weeks ago, Mike D'Antoni criticized Gallinari for his lackluster play, but recently he's been one of the Knicks' most consistent players.

Gallinari's development is crucial for several reasons. He's one of the few Knicks under contract for next season, and his presence could either hurt or help the team recruit a significant free agent this summer. In November, when the Cavs made their one and only visit to the Garden this season, a LeBron James confidant pointed at Gallinari and said "LeBron wants to see how this kid does this year."

After the game, LeBron approached Gallinari to offer encouragement and advised him to make sure he stretches his back before every game. Jordan was never that chummy with Kukoc.
