Tony Parker: Spurs can beat Thunder to win championship

"Our goal is to win a championship. Tim Duncan and I haven’t got a lot of time left. The Spurs made the right moves by signing Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills. We have a complete team now. We know we can beat everybody in the West, we proved it by beating OKC two times already. Winning another title is something we can do this year. (…)

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: In the last month, the San Antonio Spurs have added Boris Diaw, Stephen Jackson, and Patty Mills to take, perhaps, their final run at an NBA championship.

This has All-Star point guard Tony Parker excited -and with good reason.

The black-and-silver has accumulated a potentially potent mix of youth and experience. They still have their ‘Big Three’ in Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, while DeJuan Blair, Kwahi Leonard, Gary Neal, and Tiago Splitter are all young and athletic.

The key could be Jackson. If he finds his past form -something that shouldn’t be too difficult as he won a championship with the Spurs in 2003- then Gregg Popovich’s crew could give the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers competition out west.

Video: Chris Paul’s error leads to Spurs beating Clippers in OT

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Not a good look.

Chris Paul's late turnover allowed San Antonio guard Gary Neal to hit a game-tying three-pointer that sent the Clippers-Spurs game into overtime.

The Spurs won in extra time, and Paul described the play as the worst of his career. Watch the video and tell us thoughts in the comment box below.

Gary Neal saves the day, and season, for San Antonio Spurs

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: They were down 3-1 in the series. And they were down 3 with seconds remaining.

So, who did the San Antonio Spurs turn to when their season was on-the-line? Tim Duncan? Manu Ginobili? Richard Jefferson? Or even Tony Parker?

No, Coach Gregg Popovich called on rookie Gary Neal to tie the game with a clutch three-pointer. The Spurs then won in overtime.

To be fair, this wasn't a complete shocker because Neal led all rookies in three-point percentage. However, most first year players would find the circumstances overwhelming.

Not Neal, though.

J.R. Smith Dunks All Over Gary Neal

Even after watching him scrape defenders off the sole of his sneakers numerous times in his career, I'm still occasionally taken aback by some of the things J.R. Smith is capable of doing in the air. About ten minutes ago he added yet another extraordinary play to his already prolific highlight reel with an absolutely filthy dunk against the Spurs. Taking off some eleven feet from the bucket, "Swish" threw home an emphatic two-hander all over a hapless Gary Neal, who seemed as surprised as the rest of us that Smith had even attempted - let alone completed - a dunk from that distance.
